Apologies that it’s been a bit quiet here but we’ve been somewhat preoccupied with non-virtual activities including (but not limited to) painting the outside of the café, repainting the loos, tearing up the hall carpet and painting the floor, adding a sparkly light fitting to the hall, spring cleaning the kitchen and repainting the store room, adding new hanging rails and a new light fitting to the textiles area, moving nearly every bookcase and every book, adding shelf labels and lots of different stock etc etc etc.
The changes seem to have been greeted with approval by most of our customers so far, apart from one who thinks that the hall light fitting reminds her of a Louise Bourgeois sculpture. I’m failing to take offence at this, as Bourgeois was quite an artist! (Well worth searching out the documentary Tracy Emin did on their collaboration).
So although we haven’t yet done every one of the tasks on our stupendously long to do list, we are once again open and looking forward to the season. Photos will follow when it stops raining long enough: painting the outside has involved dodging the downpours!
